2020 Reserve Shiraz

2020 Reserve Shiraz

We make some of Western Australia's best Shiraz, as a result of the micro-climate found in the lowest part, the gully area of our Swan Valley vineyard.

The gully's clay river soil and cooler temperatures create this outstanding Shiraz, oh and a bit of decent winemaking too!

The 2020 is looking sensational:

  • Hand-picked and sorted
  • crushed and de-stemmed
  • open fermented after 36 hours cold soak
  • 10 days on skins
  • into French oak for 12 months maturation

James Halliday on the 2018 Reserve Shiraz: 95/100

Ray Jordan: West Australian on the 2018 Reserve Shiraz                94/100

A generous sweet fruit shiraz from the Swan that really delivers plenty. It's powerfully structured but with that Swan Valley softness that makes the region's wines so appealing as youngsters. The oak has been well managed and the tanins carefully tuned to dial in the fruit perfectly. A touch of coffee and spicy plum adds to the palate complexity.

Spiced plum, forest fruits with hints of black pepper, star anise and tomato leaf.
The palate bursts with plum & mulberry, there are undertones of dark chocolate, vanilla & spice. Soft, lush tannins and balanced acidity lead into a long, uplifted, fruity finish.

Cellar until 2035

Wine Profile
Winemaker Notes
This is my favourite wine to make, I love to grow the grapes, to make the wine and yes, to drink it too! I put 100% of myself into the Reserve shiraz, its the flagship wine from our Swan Valley vineyard. Its uniqueness is partially a result of the micro-climate found in the lowest part, the gully area, of our Swan Valley vineyard. The gully's clay river soil and cooler temperatures create superb shiraz grapes. It gets a lot of very expensive, brand new French oak to compliment the rich fruit flavours and giving it the depth to develop and mature for 15 years.
