Last updated: May 2026
We live and work in the Swan Valley and regularly host interstate and international visitors, so these are the places we genuinely recommend to friends when they want to experience the region properly.
From koalas and kangaroos to vineyard lunches, wood fired pizza and riverside walks, here are our favourite things to do in the Swan Valley for 2026.
1. Walks & Scenic Spots in the Swan Valley
Sometimes the best part of a day in the Swan Valley is simply slowing down and taking in the scenery.
Whether you prefer riverside strolls, wildflowers in winter or somewhere peaceful to roll out a picnic rug, there are some beautiful places to stretch your legs.
Bells Rapids
One of the Swan Valley’s best known beauty spots, Bells Rapids is especially spectacular during winter when the water rushes through the valley.
Walk across the bridge for beautiful views over the rapids, settle in for a picnic by the river or simply take your time soaking up the scenery. It is a favourite for photographers, families and anyone wanting a breath of fresh air before lunch.

Walyunga National Park
Just a short drive from the heart of the Swan Valley, Walyunga National Park feels wonderfully untouched.
Known for its rugged valley views, native bushland and spectacular wildflowers during winter and spring, it is one of the region’s quieter gems. After winter rains, the Swan River moves quickly through the valley before softening into a calmer waterway during the warmer months.

John George Trail, Woodbridge
For something flatter and easier going, the John George Trail offers a peaceful 5.5km riverside pathway linking Woodbridge Park to Reg Bond Reserve.
Suitable for walkers, cyclists, prams and wheelchairs, it is beautiful at any time of year and makes for an easy start to the day.

2. Meet Australia’s Wildlife at Caversham Wildlife Park
If you have interstate or overseas visitors in tow, this is one stop that never disappoints.
Caversham Wildlife Park gives visitors the chance to get up close to some of Australia’s most iconic animals. Hand feed kangaroos, meet koalas, cuddle a wombat and wander through one of the country’s most loved wildlife experiences.
Families especially love the farm shows, sheep shearing demonstrations and hands on encounters.
Local tip: Go in the morning so you still have plenty of time to settle in for a long Swan Valley lunch afterwards.

3. Coffee & Cake at Taylor’s Art & Coffee House

Every good Swan Valley day starts with coffee.
Tucked inside a charming old farmhouse, Taylor’s Art & Coffee House has become something of a local institution. Rustic old machinery scattered through the gardens gives the place character, while quiet corners make it easy to settle in for a slow morning.
The coffee is excellent, the cakes homemade and the atmosphere relaxed in a way that feels distinctly Swan Valley.
If you are lucky, local artist Jude Taylor may be around, with beautiful homewares and Australian landscape pieces often on display.
Bonus points for being dog friendly.

4. Enjoy a Winery Lunch at The Restaurant at Upper Reach
If you are searching for one of the best winery lunches in the Swan Valley, this is where we suggest lingering a little longer.
Set overlooking the vines, The Restaurant at Upper Reach offers a Mediterranean inspired menu built around fresh local produce and generous hospitality.
The menu changes with the seasons and ranges from smaller shared dishes through to longer, more leisurely lunches. It is the sort of place where one glass of wine quietly turns into a bottle and the afternoon disappears before you realise.
Open Wednesday to Sunday for lunch.
Good to know: As much as we love dogs, Upper Reach is not dog friendly as our two resident retrievers already call the property home.

5. A Relaxed Weekend Lunch at TreeHouse Pizza Bar
For something more casual, TreeHouse Pizza Bar is one of our favourite weekend spots in the Swan Valley.
Perched among the vines, TreeHouse is relaxed, easy going and built for long afternoons. Think crisp Neapolitan style pizzas, local ingredients, cold beer on tap and a glass of Swan Valley wine in hand.
There is no need to rush here. Pull up a table, order another drink and settle into the slower rhythm that makes weekends in the Swan Valley so enjoyable.
Open Saturdays and Sundays from 11.30am to 3pm. Walk ins welcome.

6. Experience a Swan Valley Winery Tour
Wine tasting is wonderful, but if you really want to understand what makes the Swan Valley special, a winery tour offers something more.
At Upper Reach, visitors can walk through the vineyard, explore the working winery and learn how grapes become wine, from vine to bottle.
One of the highlights is tasting wines directly from tank or barrel, something very few wineries offer.
If you enjoy understanding the story behind what is in your glass, this is one of the best experiences in the Swan Valley.
Good to know: Winery tours are available Wednesday to Friday and must be booked ahead.

7. Visit House of Honey
House of Honey is one of those places that surprises people.
Watch bees hard at work through the live beehive display, sample local honey varieties and browse shelves filled with honey inspired treats, skincare and gifts.
It is fun for children, surprisingly interesting for adults and makes an easy stop between wineries.
Dog friendly outdoors.

8. Try Supa Golf or Mini Golf
Need a break from wine tasting?
Supa Golf is exactly what it sounds like, golf, but more fun and considerably less serious. With oversized clubs and giant golf balls, it is easy for beginners and entertaining for just about everyone.
For younger visitors, mini golf remains a classic family favourite.
Whether you are travelling with kids, grandparents or a group of friends, this is an easy crowd pleaser.

9. Visit Swan Valley Cuddly Animal Farm
If little people are joining the adventure, the Swan Valley Cuddly Animal Farm is worth adding to the list.
Bottle feed lambs, cuddle rabbits, pat chicks and enjoy pony rides, all in a relaxed farm setting designed with younger children in mind.
The train ride is always popular and there is something quietly nostalgic about watching children experience farm animals up close.
A lovely stop for families with toddlers and younger children.

10. Chocolate at Whistler’s Chocolate Company
Because no Swan Valley day feels complete without something sweet.
Whistler’s Chocolate Company has been a long time favourite for visitors, offering handmade chocolates, gifts and plenty of opportunities to sample before you buy.
There is also a café serving locally roasted coffee, plus an enclosed outdoor area where children can play while adults linger a little longer.
A very easy stop to justify.

The Perfect One Day Swan Valley Itinerary
Only have one day in the Swan Valley? Here is how we would spend it.
Start the morning slowly with coffee and cake at Taylor’s Art & Coffee House before heading to Caversham Wildlife Park to meet kangaroos, koalas and wombats up close.
If you are visiting midweek (Wednesday to Friday), settle in for a long winery lunch before joining an afternoon winery tour and tasting. It is one of the best ways to properly experience the Swan Valley and understand what makes the region so special.
If you are visiting on the weekend, spend the afternoon exploring cellar doors and wine tasting before finishing with pizza and a glass of wine at TreeHouse Pizza Bar.
Still have room? Stop by House of Honey or Whistler’s Chocolate Company on your way home.
The best days in the Swan Valley are never rushed.
