At Upper Reach each wine reflects the vintage and our vineyard, thus it was logical to grow Verdelho, a Portuguese grape variety which really suits the Swan Valley's Mediterranean climate.
The Verdelho is all handpicked and produced in small batches, to ensure that each parcel gets exactly the treatment it needs to make the very best Verdelho.
The 2010 is a fablous dry style, with citrus & spice on the nose, intense tropical fruit on the palate and a spicy, dry finish.

"Another throughly beautiful verdelho from these guys. Just lovely this one with its pure, pristine fruit brimming with all of those wonderful, tropical flavours. The palate is intensely flavoured with a fine spritely acid to lift the finish. Excellent drinking.

Derek (the winemaker) reckons you ought to drink the Verdelho young, but Jeni's planning on ageing her bottles of Verdelho for about four to five years.....................(I'll let you know how successful she is with this!)

The 2009 is a big wine, with wonderful mandarin, sherbet and a long, rich, spicy finish.
The West Australian's Ray Jordan 'Upper Reach is producing some of the best verdelhos in the Swan Valley, which means some of the best in Australia. This is another beauty with more complexity than you normally expect from this variety. Rich, creamy stone fruit and lime juice aromas with a palate of real intensity and length. Excellent wine with some cellaring potential."

Verdelho 2008
The wine that got all of the Perth WIne Media very, very excited!
Right from the beginning the 2008 Verdelho has looked really special. The yield was down 15% on a normal year, which contributed to the really intense, lifted floral aromas of sherbet, passsionfruit and mandarin, leading into the full, richly flavoured palate with a long, luscious finish.
